Key Scripture
“Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.” — Colossians 2:8 (NKJV)
Reflection
When I look back at that season, I see how pain and curiosity can disguise themselves as a search for truth. I wanted to understand everything — energy, mysticism, the unseen — and I thought that learning enough would help me fix people and maybe fix myself. Each new “teaching” promised light, but it kept the answers just out of reach. I was reading, listening, meditating — yet still empty.
Deep down, I always sensed something was off. Pride whispered that I was in control, that I could handle it, that I was becoming “enlightened.” But the so-called light was draining me. The devil loves to mimic truth, offering a glow that blinds instead of reveals.
Even before I knew Scripture, I knew Jesus was God. That simple faith was a thread God refused to let break. Every time I strayed too far, He drew me back — sometimes through closed doors, sometimes through an ache I couldn’t explain. Only His Word brought clarity: truth isn’t hidden behind secret knowledge; it’s spoken plainly in Christ.
Today’s Steps
- Ask the Holy Spirit to expose any “false lights” — ideas or habits that promise peace but pull you from Scripture.
- Read Colossians 2:6-10 and underline what is in Christ versus what is of the world.
- When you feel drawn to “deeper knowledge,” pause and pray, “Jesus, You are enough.”
Prayer
“Lord Jesus, forgive me for the times I sought truth apart from You. Thank You for calling me out of deception and back into Your light. Keep my heart humble, my mind anchored in Your Word, and my eyes fixed on You. Amen.”
