Key Scripture
“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.” – 1 John 4:1 (NKJV)
Reflection
When I first began to truly walk with Christ, I realized that what I once called a “spiritual awakening” was nothing more than a carefully crafted deception. The moment Jesus revealed Himself, the false lights I followed were exposed, and so were the spirits behind them.
The enemy did not leave quietly. He became vicious, hateful, and desperate. But I was no longer the same. What once terrified me now brought clarity. I became cautious, spiritually awake, and alert in a way I had never been before. I prayed at the slightest sense of darkness, because I already knew how the enemy moved, and now I knew Who stood beside me.
The moment Jesus appeared to me was also the moment the demons fled. His presence exposed everything lurking in the shadows. From that day on, every time I felt pressure, fear, or confusion, I turned immediately to prayer, and they vanished instantly. The power was never in me; it was in Jesus Christ.
Scripture became my compass. Prayer became my weapon. And slowly, I became more calm, less reactive, happier, and more myself, the person God created me to be. Not loud. Not dramatic. But a silent warrior for His glory.
If someone is exploring “spirituality” without testing where the spirits come from, I would lovingly say this: the only true spiritual path is Jesus Christ. Many believe they can handle the unseen world alone, but no one can stand against darkness without the Light. My testimony is proof of the eternal unseen: demons flee, deception breaks, and truth stands firm only when Jesus enters the room.
Today’s Steps
- Read 1 John 4:1–6 and note how Scripture describes the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.
- Ask God to reveal any influence, practice, or “light” that does not come from Him.
- Commit to responding with prayer the moment you feel spiritual pressure or confusion.
Prayer
“Lord Jesus, thank You for opening my eyes to the truth and exposing the lies that once held me. Give me discernment to test every spirit, courage to stand firm in Your name, and a heart that seeks Your voice above every influence in this world. Amen.”
