“1 Corinthians 3:16” When Jesus Meets You Where You Shouldn’t Be

Key Scripture
“Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” – 1 Corinthians 3:16 (NKJV)

Reflection

I never expected to meet Jesus where I did. It wasn’t in a church, through Scripture, or during prayer, it was in a place I shouldn’t have been, a meditation session that promised “spiritual awakening.” I went in restless, hungry for truth, but searching in the wrong direction.

In that moment, I saw Him, King Jesus Christ, standing before me with a gentleness that disarmed my pride. My first feeling was disappointment in myself: I had run so far from the One true God. But as I opened my heart to Him, the disappointment was swallowed by something greater, holy peace and love. It was as if a dark veil lifted, and I could finally see clearly.

Looking back, I understand why He came to me there. He knew I was at a breaking point, standing on the edge of falling deeper into deception. That encounter was His mercy, His way of saying, “You don’t have to search anymore. I am the truth you’ve been looking for.”

If someone told me today that Jesus met them in an unexpected place, I’d tell them this: there is no love or peace in the world that compares to His. You will know it’s Him because no one else can calm the storm in your heart like Jesus does. When you feel that peace, don’t hesitate, run toward Him.

Today’s Steps

  • Reflect on a moment when God met you unexpectedly. What was He rescuing you from?
  • Read 1 Corinthians 3:16–17 and thank Him that His Spirit dwells in you, not in buildings or rituals.
  • Ask God to open your eyes to His presence, even in unlikely places.

Prayer

“Lord Jesus, thank You for meeting me even when I was far from You. Thank You for lifting the veil and showing me Your truth and mercy. Help me to never seek peace apart from You again. Amen.”

Journal Prompt

Where has Jesus met you in your own journey—perhaps in a place you least expected? How did that moment reveal His mercy and patience toward you?
